COMMUNICATIONS & EVENT COORDINATOR (posted 4/28/2023)
Job Purpose
The Nashville Downtown Partnership’s Communications & Event Coordinator is a member of the Strategic Development & Communications team, directly supporting the VP of Strategic Development and the Communications & Marketing Manager and collaborating with other departments on a variety of organizational initiatives.
The Communications & Event Coordinator effectively deploys communications to various stakeholders through a variety of mediums. He/She supports communications strategy, executes digital communications and other projects to meet the goals of the organization with a focus on: destination marketing, promoting downtown spaces as clean, safe, active and attrractive, and reaching/engaging downtown’s diverse stakeholder groups.
The Coordinator is also a key member of various teams that manage and produce stakeholder engagement events. This support role is a key project coordinator for events/programs such as the Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon, Annual Open House, Emerging Leaders Network, Annual Downtown Home Tour and Downtown Employee Appreciation Week.
Tasks
Marketing
- Maintain nashvilledowntown.com’s event calendar
- Assist with other website content maintenance as needed
- Support the production process of various reports, including the Annual Report, quarterly market conditions report, and residential report
- Coordinate the bi-annual Downtown Guidebook publication process
- Support advertising campaigns as needed
Communications
- Plan, write and execute the weekly e-newsletter, Downtown Details
- Assist Marketing & Communications Manager with social media strategy/execution as needed:
- Utilize social media management tool (Sprout) for scheduling across 10 social media accounts
- Foster voice development for each social platform/audience
- Generate relevant content that resonates with and attracts a variety of audiences including downtown residents, businesses, employees, and local visitors
- Assist with writing, designing, and executing various stakeholder communications via e-marketing platform (Emma)
Events
- Assist various staff members with administrative event planning tasks for stakeholder engagement events
- Regularly attend NDP events to capture photos and videos for digital content development
Vendor Relations & General
- Assist Marketing & Communications Manager as needed to coordinate projects involving agencies/vendor partners to meet goals
- Champion the importance of brand integrity across the organization
- Be an active, enthusiastic, and engaged citizen of downtown
Minimum Qualifications
- 1-2 years of professional experience in marketing and/or communications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in marketing/communications; skills and experiences may substitute if appropriate
- Excellent writing skills; ability to adapt voice/message to various audience groups
Skills
- Demonstrated experience with social media content creation
- Familiarity with design software such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator
- Strong computer skills; competency in Microsoft Office Suite, PC and MAC is preferred
- Possess creativity, storytelling abilities, and audience engagement acumen
- Collaborative and creative approach to projects
Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Highly developed organizational and planning skills

Physical Demands
Physical requirements will vary depending upon the specific duties to be accomplished.
Hours & Location
This full-time position requires regular in-office business hours as well as occasional nights/weekends for special events. This position is considered on-site with 80% in office and 20% remote.
Compensation
Salary range $46,000-$50,000 commensurate with experience.
The NDP compensation includes free employee parking, health insurance, HSA, 401(k) plan, life insurance, and short and long-term disability.
