Historical Information
423 Union Street was built in the 1880s. It is a two story brick building with arched windows. A new store front has been added, but the top floor remains unchanged. A small ledge between the two floors serves as the base for four wooden pilasters with decorative cutouts that lead up to an elaborate cornice with the same design. The building has had a plethora of tenants throughout the years ranging from restaurants to credit unions. The most notable of these is the American Express Company, whose Nashville office occupied the building during the 1910s. It was rehabbed in 2014 and has two large residential units.
