Historic Second Avenue

Second Avenue in downtown Nashville is a historic corridor stretching from Broadway to Union Street. Lined with buildings dating back to the early 1800s, 2nd Avenue has endured significant moments in the city’s history, including a fire in 1985 and the 2020 bombing. Today, with construction complete, Second Avenue is fully open, marking a major milestone in the ongoing restoration of downtown Nashville.

Visitors are invited to walk the newly reopened street and experience the shopping, dining, and nightlife on Second Avenue. As you explore the middle block, look for granite historical plaques embedded in the street. Each plaque features etched facts that highlight the history of Second Avenue and its long-standing role in shaping downtown Nashville.
