Ladies and gentlemen, Wheeler Walker Jr. is coming out of retirement. Following the release of the highly anticipated Greatest Hits album, it’s easy to think Wheeler was ready to hang up his hat but Wheeler is back and more badass than ever.
Alongside Grammy-award winning producer, Dave Cobb, Wheeler has undoubtedly already contributed to the canon of country music. With no songs that the FCC would even allow on US airwaves, his 2016 debut hit the Billboard Country Chart at #9 and took the #1 spot on Billboard’s Comedy Chart.
Much to Nashville’s surprise, Walker’s first hit was no one-note joke. Wheeler Walker Jr.’s sophomore album, Ol’ Wheeler debuted again at #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart for three consecutive weeks and at #5 on the Billboard Country Chart. Fans from across the country music spectrum continued to flock to Wheeler’s shows, welcoming his third record, WWIII, with open arms – debuting a third time at #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart and sat at #1 on the iTunes Country Chart for a week.
The legacy of Wheeler Walker, Jr. is still being written and will surely tell the tale of one of the best country artists to ever grace this earth. So go ahead and ignore him, but you’ll be remembered as being complicit in denying the world of the art it needs.
