In celebration of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s ongoing songwriter interview series, Poets and Prophets, and as part of the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival, previous Poets honorees Matraca Berg, Dickey Lee, Paul Overstreet, and Allen Shamblin will share their stories and songs. Matraca Berg wrote Deana Carter’s “Strawberry Wine,” Patty Loveless’s “You Can Feel Bad,” Martina McBride’s “Wild Angels,” Reba McEntire’s “The Last One to Know,” and Trisha Yearwood’s “XXX’s and OOO’s (An American Girl).” Dickey Lee wrote Tracy Byrd’s “The Keeper of the Stars,” George Jones’s “She Thinks I Still Care,” Reba McEntire’s “You’re the First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving,” Doug Stone’s “In a Different Light,” and George Strait’s “Let’s Fall to Pieces Together.” Paul Overstreet wrote Randy Travis’s “Forever and Ever, Amen” and “Deeper Than the Holler,” Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing at All,” the Judds’ “Love Can Build a Bridge,” and Blake Shelton’s “Some Beach.” Allen Shamblin wrote Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me,” Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” Collin Raye’s “In This Life,” Mike Reid’s “Walk on Faith,” and Randy Travis’s “He Walked on Water.” All four writers are members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
