San Antonio native Stephanie Urbina Jones is passionate about infusing her country music with elements of her Hispanic heritage. In 2023, she released an album, Manuel’s Destiny, in tribute to her great-grandfather, who left Mexico for El Paso in 1907, and her 2018 album, Tularosa, reimagined classic country songs with Latin rhythms and mariachi arrangements. Jones was the first woman on an independent label to hit #1 on the Texas Country Music Chart, the first artist to perform with a mariachi band on the Grand Ole Opry (during her Opry debut in 2021), and the first country artist to sign with Gibson Guitars’ Latin division. Her songs have been recorded by Craig Wayne Boyd and Lorrie Morgan.
