Learn more about the unique architecture of one of Nashville’s oldest churches. The Downtown Presbyterian Church sanctuary looks like an Egyptian temple and was designed by William Strickland, the same architect that designed the Tennessee State Capitol. The church will be open to the public this Friday (9/24) from noon to 2 p.m. A volunteer will be available during this time to answer visitors’ questions. Also, visitors can view an in-depth video of Jim Hoobler, church historian, describing the space and sharing some of its wonderful history. These sanctuary tours are free to attend. Additional sanctuary tours are currently scheduled for Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. on the following dates: October 15th, October 29th, November 12th, and December 10th.
