Nappy Roots hails from Kentucky and Georgia, coming onto the scene in 1998 with their mixtape, Country Fried Cess, at a time when southern hip-hop was just catching fire. The group has gone on to release eight more albums, including 2002’s best-selling hip-hop album, Watermelon, Chicken & Grits and their most recent album, NAPPY4LIFE, Part 1. The kings of “rural rap” have also received the honors two GRAMMY nominations and multiple RIAA platinum certifications with hits such asAwnaw, Po’ Folks, and Good Day. Members of Nappy Roots include Skinny DeVille, Fish Scales, Buffalo Stille, and Ron Clutch.
