This special event is part of AMERICANFEST and is presented in partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Museum and the Tennessee State Museum. The panel will discuss what music museums and archives do and who we are. It will detail how the museum preserves and promotes ideas and histories of music and musicians. The curators will also talk about how they chose what to exhibit, what to collect, and how to present this. The challenges and benefits of this work will also be talked about. Panelists include Dr. Bryan Pierce, National Museum of African American Music; Melissa Weber, Public Historian; John Troutman, National Museum of American History; Brenda Colladay, Tulane University; Richard White, Tennessee State Museum; and David Kunian, New Orleans Jazz Museum.
