Join the Engine for Art, Democracy & Justice for a powerful discussion on the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people, an issue that affects tribes across the Americas, including in Tennessee and the surrounding areas. This panel brings together voices that will explore the interwoven themes of women, water, and policy, and how they relate to both the strength and mistreatment of Indigenous women.
Our esteemed panelists, Kimberly Smith (Cherokee), Nicole Thompson (Seneca), and Tahila Mintz (Yaqui), will share their unique perspectives and experiences, shedding light on this important topic and providing insights into the ways we can work towards justice and healing for Indigenous communities. We welcome all who wish to listen, learn, and engage in this important conversation.
After the panel discussion, join us in the galleries to explore our current exhibitions and in the Martin ArtQuest Gallery to participate in art-making activities inspired by Jeffrey Gibson: The Body Electric. Gallery admission is required.
