Enslaved people in the Caribbean created the banjo based on their memories of West African lutes. Guided by performance troupe AfricaNashville leader Ibrahima Dioubate — a multi-instrumentalist and performer of West African music originally from Guinea — participants can try their hand at and explore a West African lute, the n’goni, two drums, the dundun and the jembe. (All ages)

Price: Included with museum admission; Free to museum members
