Details
Learn and practice ukulele basics, then get into the spirit of the season playing the holiday song and ukulele classic, “Mele Kalikimaka.” Commonly associated with Hawaiian music, the ukulele is a versatile instrument that spans genres–including folk, pop, and country–and can be heard on recordings by Kacey Musgraves, Jimmie Rodgers, and Taylor Swift. Multi-instrumentalist and Museum educator Kayley Nell Walker, who has performed on NBC’s Today show, leads this introductory class. Ukuleles provided or bring your own. Recommended for ages 7 and up, but all are welcome. Taylor Swift Education Center. Limited seating. Included with museum admission. Free to museum members. Youth from Davidson County and counties that surround Davidson may enter the museum free as part of the Museum’s Community Counts initiative. Up to two accompanying adults receive 25 percent off admission. Proof of residency required. For more information, please visit Community Counts or inquire at the Box Office.
