Grammy-winning musicians Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal have been collaborating for more than thirty years, performing live, co-writing, co-producing, and winning praise and awards for albums such as The Wheel, Black Cadillac, The List, and The River and the Thread. This conversation will explore Cash and Leventhal’s creative collaborations; their inspiration to form their new label, RumbleStrip Records; the thirtieth anniversary reissue of Cash’s 1993 album, The Wheel (the couple’s first collaborative effort); and Leventhal’s upcoming debut solo album. Rosanne Cash has recorded sixteen Top Ten hits, is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and is the author of a New York Times bestselling memoir, Composed. She is a recipient of the Americana Music Association’s Spirit of Americana Free Speech Award and has won Song of the Year and Album of the Year honors from the organization. John Leventhal has worked with Marc Cohn, Rodney Crowell, Jerry Douglas, Jim Lauderdale, and the Wreckers and earned Grammys for producing albums for William Bell, Shawn Colvin, and Sarah Jarosz. He was named the Americana Music Association’s Instrumentalist of the Year in 2015.
