Terry Allen is a songwriter, recording artist, and visual artist who has been called an Outlaw country lifer and an architect of alt-country. His songs have been covered by Bobby Bare, Guy Clark, Sturgill Simpson, Lucinda Williams, and Doug Sahm, and he has released more than a dozen albums since his 1975 debut, Juarez. Allen’s artwork is in the collections of several major museums, including New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Museum’s RJ Smith will lead a conversation with Allen and Brendan Greaves, a Grammy-nominated writer and label founder who published Truckload of Art, an authorized biography of Allen, in March. Ford Theater.
