Kitty Ledbetter and Scott Foster Siman will discuss their 2024 book, Broadcasting the Ozarks: Si Siman and Country Music at the Crossroads, which details Si Siman’s contributions to the vibrant country music scene that emerged from Springfield, Missouri, beginning in the 1930s. Si Siman began his career in the music industry as a teenager and was a driving force for promoting country music in Springfield as producer of the Ozark Jubilee and a music publisher, impacting the careers of Chet Akins, the Browns, Brenda Lee, and Porter Wagoner. Kitty Ledbetter is a former country music disc jockey, editor, and journalist, and currently serves as professor emerita at Texas State University. Scott Foster Siman, son of Si Siman, is the former chairman and CEO of the Academy of Country Music and the current president of the management and marketing firm EM.Co, Tim McGraw’s longtime management company. The Museum’s Michael McCall will moderate. After the program, Ledbetter and Siman will sign copies of their book, which will be available for purchase. Taylor Swift Education Center.
